Bonjour

Well Witching...

Well Witching...

Whether you've heard the term Well Witching, Water Dowsing, Rhabdomancy or Divining, it's basically a science (or pseudoscience) of finding water, whether it's a water vein or underground river, etc... Is this for real or is my Brother-In-Law trying to make me look like a fool on the internet? Let's explore...

Is this for real Uncle?

Many people swear it's legitimacy due to the fact that dowsing has been around for a long time (aka "Appeal to tradition" (it must work since people have been doing it for centuries)) where other people, automatically try to debunk any theory. Skeptics will throw shame to the practice just like ghost hunting, which craft or finding missing people with the use of dowsing rods.

Whether dowsing is real or not, it's completely irrelevant to this post. We are all about educating our kids. Not everything will be learnt in a classroom environment. Our kids like to touch, they like to ask questions, they like to be directly involved in the process. How many times have we (my wife and I) wanted to help our kids and they just scream at us, "I DO IT!!!"? They want to do it themselves and I love that they're not incapable of wanting to learn and doing things themselves.

We just want them to try things, get involved, ask question, learn to make informed decisions. I want my kids to have made an informed opinion, once they've actually tried it. Whether they like or hate broccoli is irrelevant, until they actually try the broccoli. It's at this point where they can decide if they like it or not.

Conclusion: Is well witching real or not? I don't care! I just wanted my kids to learn about something new today and try it.
